People argue that dorm life is more convenient than home life. Dorm life truly is advantageous, and is a better way to live compared to home life. In a dorm, you are on your own, and a person quickly learn that this independence leads to responsibility. Besides the many life lessons learned in a dorm, life itself is less of a hassle. A person does not have to commute, and could leave five minutes before class without being late. In a dorm, you are living amongst friends, and it is a great way to meet new people.According to the University of Washington, although students who dorm have the tendency to have their GPA drop, they still prefer dorm life over home life. Home life does not compare to dorm life due to the lessons learned, its convenience, and the overall fun of living on your own.

You have no one to tell you to go to class, or not to stay out late before an exam, you must use your own judgement. Dorm life teaches you many lessons, like how to be cleanly and how to cook. In the dorm, no matter what time it is, there are always friends or neighbors coming over. You could make new friends, and being an athlete it is ideal. The gym is right across the street, and the baseball field is my backyard. I could roll out of bed to go to class, then get back from class and go to sleep. Dorm life truly is a great way to live, and a way learn how to be responsible.

This article sticks up for reading and writing on the internet. People, especially younger people are on the Internet now more than ever. They are constantly sending messages, and are reading like never before. This is beneficial according to a professor named Andrea Lunsford. Andrea explains that people are more enthusiastic to write online because they are actually getting a reaction from their writing. They are not forced to do their writing, and it is not just being read by a professor. Students adapt their writing style to their audience. Young people write very formal when writing to professors, and write less formally when chatting with friends. All of this writing is beneficial according to the article, and this article makes a strong case that writing online is not corrupting the ability of students.
I agree with this article, and feel as if the writer makes a strong and valid point. Students know when to write formally, and when to write less formally. Without the internet, younger people would only be reading and writing when it is necessary for a professor, and would indeed become less literate. All reading and communication is good in my opinion, and this article cleary states that.

This article is about how reading online is making people not want to read actual books anymore. Technology is constantly coming about with something newer and more advanced, and people are taking advantage of that. Reading has become outdated, and people enjoy reading things off the Internet. People are arguing that reading off the Internet is different from reading books. standardized test scores are decreasing on reading sections, and young people are losing the ability to sit down and focus. Children are spending more and more time online, and this will continue as long as new technology emerges.
To answer the question of the title, I feel as if people truly are reading through online texts. Reading is reading no matter what, it truly does not matter what type of form it is in. People are able to communicate with each other like never before, and information is constantly being consumed by people via the internet. I prefer the Internet, and feel as if it is just as good or even better than reading, since reading is so outdated.

This article tells about how younger people are drifting away from newspapers, and are now using the internet. Technology is affecting the way young people get their information, and newspapers are truly outdated. The writer tries to defend newspapers, saying that it is easier to read something printed out than on the internet. The author also tries to say that Newspapers are very easy to find information, and can be used for other things besides reading. However young kids do not want to carry around a cumbersome newspaper, and want to use what is easiest for them to use. I got the sense that the author knew that he is fighting a lost cause, and that young people are always going to use new technology over something that is outdated. The writer gives students 10 guidelines for writing media content, which are helpful in my opinion.
I agree with the author that young people are going to use the internet, and agree with what he said that most people under 25 years of age hate newspapers. I agree with most of his 10 rules, especially the one that states the shorter a writing is, the more interesting it is to read. I disagree with the fact that a piece of literature is easier to read when it is printed out rather than being read off line. I personally do not mind reading something off the computer, the only problem with it is that the internet could distract you through instant messages and facebook. I disagree with some of the writers rules as well.
I definitely agree with the first rule the author presents. The shorter a writing is, the more inclined I am to read it. Short and to the point is the way to go, especially in a time where young people have a short attention span due to the internet. I disagree with the rule that says images should be used to convey images, and should not be scattered. Images are a way to express yourself, and make writings more enjoyable. I also agree with the rule that says videos should not be used for content, since that is what the writings are for. If I were to make a change on this list, I would make the rules shorter when you click on them. When I clicked on one of the rules and saw it was very long and extensive, I personally felt less inclined to read it. These are the changes I would make to the 10 rules.

My friends and I always argue about which is a better sport, football or baseball. Some of my friends feel that baseball is the better sport because it is America's pastime, and like the fact that it lasts from April until October. However, some of my friends feel that baseball is boring to watch on television, and dislike that in baseball a person is not involved in every single play. People feel that while playing football, there is constant action, and enjoy how physical the game is. However, others feel that football does not have the anticipation that baseball has, nor is it as internationally valued . Everyone has their own opinion on this matter, yet the argument still remains.
